A cultural-historical journey through the history and architecture of the former Bamberg area

The book presentation of the work took place in the Arnoldstein Cultural Center in mid-November “Carinthia and Bamberg – a bilateral national history” instead of. The book, the posthumous by Dr. Wilhelm Wadl and Mag. Josef Barth was completed, honors the life's work of the late Friedrich Leitner. In a moving event, the work was described as a journey through time, which takes visitors from Villach via Pontebba to Hermagor and highlights the cultural connections between Carinthia and Bamberg.

The guests were welcomed by Prof. Bernhard Wolfsgruber, who emphasized the importance of the book for regional identity and the historical analysis of bilateral relations between Carinthia and Bamberg. Particularly noteworthy are the extraordinary photographs of churches and monuments, which are documented in the book. These photographs, supplemented by the well-founded explanations from Dr. Wilhelm Wadl, offer readers an impressive insight into the region's architectural treasures. “This book is not just a valuable reference work, but also a window into the past, that brings us closer to the cultural roots and shared stories”; emphasized Wadl during his presentation.

The guests included numerous personalities from the region, including Bgm. Reinhard Antolitsch, he was enthusiastic about the presentation. “The book is an important testimony to our history and a stimulus, to continue to maintain connections with our neighbors”, explained Dr. Heidi Rogy, who was responsible for selling the historical society's publications. The presentation ended with a lively discussion about the book's themes and their relevance today. Those present agreed, that the work of Friedrich Leitner, despite his untimely demise, will leave a lasting impression and should encourage further research into our shared history.

“Carinthia and Bamberg – a bilateral national history” is now available from the History Association for Carinthia and will certainly take many readers on a fascinating journey of discovery through the history and culture of these two regions.
